Mike Lazaridis

Mike Lazaridis, along with Doug Fregin, established Quantum Valley Investments to advance and commercialize breakthrough technologies.

Mr. Lazaridis co-founded BlackBerry and founded the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the University of Waterloo’s Institute for Quantum Computing. His honours include the Orders of Ontario and Canada, Royal Society fellowships, the Ernest C. Manning Principal Award, TIME 100 recognition, and Academy and Emmy Awards.

Doug Fregin

Doug Fregin, along with Mike Lazaridis, founded Quantum Valley Investments in 2013 to seek out and invest in transformative technology companies. He also co-founded Research In Motion in 1984, which became a global leader in wireless devices.

Mr. Fregin was instrumental in BlackBerry’s hardware development and manufacturing. He received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, was named a Member of the Order of Canada, and won a Technical Emmy Award.
